No public CPA option; the current terms say commercial affiliate, paid-media or revenue-share deals beyond the standard offer need separate written approval (contact affiliates@cex.io). Time-limited promos can run on top of the 30%, e.g. a recent Referral Promo paid 25 USDC to both referrer and new user for a $100+ first fiat deposit (first 100 qualifying referrals, eligible jurisdictions only).

What the CEX.IO affiliate program is, and what it isn’t
Search for “CEX.IO affiliate program” and you land on cex.io/affiliate-program — a page titled the CEX.IO Referral Program. That naming tells you a lot. CEX.IO does not run a separate, application-only affiliate desk for publishers and a lighter scheme for friends-and-family referrals. It runs one self-serve program, open to every customer who has passed Identity-level verification, and it pays everyone the same rate: 30% of the trading feesTrading fees What an exchange charges per trade, usually a small percentage of the trade size. Most exchange affiliate commissions are a share of these fees. More their referred users pay.
That makes CEX.IO one of the simplest exchange programs to start with. No questionnaire, no traffic review, no follower threshold: you verify, generate a link, and start.
The flip side sits in the terms. The current Referral Program Terms of Use describe the standard program as non-commercial (clause 2.6). Anything that looks like a business arrangement — paid media, an agency setup, a bespoke revenue share — needs separate written approval.
How the CEX.IO commission is calculated
The base is simple. Every time a user you referred completes a qualifying trade or purchase on CEX.IO, you earn 30% of the fee CEX.IO charged on it. There are no published volume tiers, so a creator who sends ten users earns the same percentage as a site that sends a thousand.
Two things are worth spelling out because ranking pages often skip them:
- You earn on fees, not on deposits or volume. A user who deposits $5,000 and never trades produces nothing. A user who buys crypto with a card every week produces a steady stream, because each purchase carries a fee.
- Not all activity qualifies. Clause 5.13 excludes wash trading and repetitive stablecoin-to-stablecoin or fiat-to-stablecoinStablecoin A crypto token pegged to a regular currency, usually the US dollar, so its price stays close to $1. More conversions. If an audience churns USDT into USDC to farm rewards, those trades don’t count — and patterns like that invite a review.
Quick arithmetic: if a referred user pays $10 in fees on a purchase, your reward is $3 in USDC equivalent. Income grows with active, repeat buyers, not with sign-up counts.
How long you keep earning
The program page is generous: “Promote once and get rewards for a lifetime”, and CEX.IO says it doesn’t limit how long you earn or how many customers you attract. That is a lifetime commissionLifetime commission You keep earning from a referred user for as long as they stay active, with no end date written into the deal. More promise in all but name.
The terms are more careful. Under the current rules, each “Referral Offer” can set its own reward amount and duration. In practice that means the offer attached to your link governs, and a future offer could differ from today’s. Check the offer details in your account when you generate a link, and again if CEX.IO announces a change.
Attribution: who gets credit for a user
A referral is tracked through your referral link or referral code. The cookie windowCookie life How long after a click the program still credits you if the visitor signs up or buys. A 30-day cookie gives the user 30 days to convert. More is 30 days, so a reader who clicks today and signs up within a month is still yours. Each referred user can have only one referrer, and the terms (clauses 3.3–3.5) say CEX.IO’s own records decide attribution. If a reader already used someone else’s code, you can’t claim them.
The 30–45 day hold and why USDC valuation matters
CEX.IO does not pay instantly. The program FAQ says each reward is credited 30–45 days after the referred user’s qualifying transaction, once a compliance review clears it. The landing page phrases it as “within 30 days”; plan around the longer FAQ figure.
What softens the wait is how the reward is valued. CEX.IO converts it into a USDC equivalent at the moment the referred trade completes. If Bitcoin drops 20% during the hold, your reward doesn’t — and you don’t get any upside either. For affiliates who budget in dollars, that is cleaner than being paid in the fee currency.
Your referral buys $500 of ETH and pays a fee. CEX.IO immediately works out what 30% of that fee is worth in USDC and locks that number in. About a month to six weeks later, that fixed USDC amount appears in your CEX.IO balance.
Two more clauses shape the cash flow. Clause 12.6 lets CEX.IO run retrospective reviews reaching back 180 days, and rewards can be clawed back if a review finds rule breaches. So a reward credited is not untouchable — clean traffic is the only real protection.
How to join the CEX.IO affiliate program
Joining takes minutes once your account is verified. The process from the official program page looks like this:
- Create a CEX.IO account and verify it. You need at least Identity-level [[kyc|verification]] to generate a referral link. Check first that you live in a supported country.
- Open the Referral page. Go to cex.io/affiliate-program and choose "Join Referral Program". Your personal referral link and code are generated there.
- Pick your creatives. The Referral page offers banners and landing-page links. CEX.IO says it is open to requests for new creatives if you need a specific format.
- Place links where your audience already reads. Websites, blogs, mobile apps and creator channels are all named as fitting placements. Avoid paid search and mass public posting unless you have written approval.
- Track results in the Statistics tab. It shows referrals, visits, deposits, trades and earnings. Paid rewards appear under Finance > Transactions.
- Ask for a bespoke deal if you outgrow the standard offer. For paid media, agency work or other commercial setups, email affiliates@cex.io and get the terms agreed in writing first.
The program FAQ mentions bloggers, influencers, publishers and creators “with a qualifying website or mobile app”, but sets no follower or traffic threshold.
Withdrawing your CEX.IO rewards
This is where CEX.IO differs from most exchange programs. Binance pays affiliates in USDC to a spot wallet, Bybit moves commissions into a trading account. CEX.IO credits your balance too, but because it is also a crypto broker with fiat rails, you have more ways out:
| Option | What happens | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Keep as balance | Reward sits in your CEX.IO account | Use it for your own trades |
| Convert to crypto | Trade into any supported coin | Then withdraw on-chain |
| Card withdrawal | Send to a Visa or Mastercard card | Standard limits and fees apply |
| Bank transfer | Withdraw as fiat to your bank | Standard limits and fees apply |
| E-wallet | Withdraw to a supported e-wallet | Standard limits and fees apply |
A minimum payout amount is not published; in practice the floor is the minimum and fee of your chosen withdrawal method. If you earn small amounts, let them accumulate in your balance before withdrawing so fees don’t eat a large share.
If being paid in crypto is a priority for your business, compare this with the programs on our affiliate programs that pay in crypto list.
The approval clauses: bespoke deals, paid search and mass posting
CEX.IO’s terms leave the standard program wide open for content creators but put several activities behind a “written approval” gate. These are the ones that catch affiliates out:
Clause 2.6: commercial affiliate, paid-media, revenue-share or bespoke arrangements need separate written approval. Clause 5.12: no posting referral links to large, non-targeted audiences — public social posts, referral-code forums, mass messaging — unless the offer or CEX.IO allows it. Paid search: no bidding on "CEX.IO", "CEX", "CEXIO" or misspellings, and no referral links in paid search, without prior written approval.
The mass-posting clause is the one content sites should read twice. A review on your own site, aimed at readers who chose to visit it, is targeted promotion. Dropping your code into a “best referral codes” thread, spraying it across public comment sections, or blasting it to a purchased contact list is not. If your model depends on broad public distribution, get written sign-off before you scale it.
The rest of the restricted list is standard for the industry:
- No spam or unsolicited bulk email and messaging.
- No self-referralSelf-referral Signing yourself, or extra accounts you control, up through your own affiliate link to earn commission. Almost every program bans it. More through sub-accounts or linked-account networks.
- No cashback, rebates or sharing your reward with referred users, unless the offer permits it.
- No incentivized trafficIncentivized traffic Users who sign up because you rewarded them (cash, giveaways, points) rather than because they want the product. Often banned or paid less. More networks, pop-ups, forced redirects, cookie stuffing, link cloaking or typosquatting.
Brand biddingBrand bidding Buying search ads on a brand's own name, such as 'Bitget login'. Most crypto programs ban it and can void your commissions. More deserves a word for PPC teams. It isn’t banned outright — it is approval-only. If you run pay-per-click campaigns, email affiliates@cex.io with your keyword plan before launch rather than hoping nobody notices. The 180-day retrospective review makes “ask forgiveness later” an expensive strategy.
Where you can and can’t promote CEX.IO
Geography is the biggest practical limit on this program. Two separate restrictions apply.
The UK referral program is suspended. CEX.IO describes it as suspended until further notice, and targeting UK residents is on the restricted list. For UK-heavy audiences, that rules CEX.IO out for now.
CEX.IO doesn’t serve 30 countries and territories. Its help center lists Afghanistan, Belarus, Canada, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, Guam, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Lebanon, Libya, Mali, Myanmar, Nicaragua, North Korea, the Palestinian Territory, Puerto Rico, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, the US Virgin Islands, Venezuela and Yemen.
The United States is a partial case. CEX.IO Corp serves US users only in supported states, and some cryptocurrencies are unavailable to users in the US, China and South Korea. If you write for a US audience, make sure your tutorials don’t promise coins a reader in their state can’t buy.
Canada, India and Japan are big crypto audiences, so check your geoGEO The country your traffic comes from. Offers, payouts and legal rules all depend on the GEO. More split in analytics before committing. Our compliance guide explains how to geo-segment links and disclosures.
Tracking, creatives and support
The Statistics tab covers the basics: referrals, visits, deposits, trades and earnings. Payout history lives under Finance > Transactions. What isn’t published is the tooling performance marketers expect. Sub-IDs, an API and postback tracking are not disclosed, so you can’t pass a click ID through to your own analytics in the usual way. If you need per-placement data, the workaround is several referral links or landing pages, one per channel. Our tracking and postback guide covers the trade-offs.
For creatives, the Referral page provides banners and landing pages, and CEX.IO says it welcomes requests for new ones. The program page also advertises a dedicated referral manager, with affiliates@cex.io as the contact address.
Who the CEX.IO affiliate program suits best
CEX.IO’s mix of open entry, card and bank purchases, and a USDC-valued reward points to a specific kind of publisher.
- Beginner-focused content sites writing "how to buy Bitcoin with a card" guides, where readers convert into purchases that carry fees.
- Small and mid-size creators who don't meet the audience thresholds of programs like Binance's but have an engaged, targeted following.
- Affiliates who want fiat exits — earnings withdrawable to a card or bank, not only on-chain.
- Dollar-budgeting publishers who prefer a reward fixed in USDC at trade time over one that floats with the market.
- Mobile app and tool builders, a placement the program FAQ names directly.
Who should skip it, or at least pair it with another program:
- Publishers whose readers are mainly in the UK, Canada, India, Japan or Singapore.
- Derivatives-focused channels. CEX.IO’s strength is buying and spot trading; futures-heavy audiences fit Bybit’s program or Binance’s Referral Pro tiers better.
- Affiliates who need sub-affiliate income or a CPA (fixed fee per user) payout. Neither is published.
- Teams that live on paid search or broad public distribution and don’t want to negotiate written approval.
Getting the most out of CEX.IO within its rules
A flat 30% means you can’t climb tiers. The only lever is the quality of the users you send. These tactics work with the terms, not around them:
Target purchase intent, not curiosity. Content like “buy Bitcoin with a debit card”, “how to withdraw crypto to a bank account” or “first crypto purchase checklist” matches what CEX.IO does well. Readers who arrive ready to buy produce fees from day one.
Use the 30-day cookie on content with a long consideration cycle. Beginners often read, leave, and return a week later. A month-long window rewards in-depth guides that get bookmarked.
Build for repeat buyers. Since you earn on every fee, a reader who sets up regular purchases is worth more than one who buys once. Tutorials on recurring buys and portfolio building lift lifetime value — just don’t frame them as investment advice.
Geo-filter your links. Show CEX.IO links only where the service is available, and swap in an alternative for UK and other unsupported visitors. That protects conversion rate and keeps you clear of the restricted-jurisdiction rules.
Watch for promos. CEX.IO runs time-limited referral promos on top of the 30%. A recent one paid 25 USDC to both referrer and new user for a $100+ first fiat deposit, limited to the first 100 qualifying referrals in eligible jurisdictions. A live promo gives readers a concrete reason to act now.
Ask before you scale. If a campaign works and you want to add paid media, write to affiliates@cex.io with the numbers. The terms leave room for bespoke arrangements; they just have to be agreed in writing.
Set up one referral link per channel — site, newsletter, YouTube description — so the Statistics tab shows which placement drives trades. Without sub-IDs, separate links are the cleanest way to measure.
What CEX.IO doesn’t publish
Published: the 30% rate, the 30-day cookie, the 30–45 day credit window, USDC valuation, withdrawal methods and the restricted-country list. Not published: a minimum payout, volume tiers, a CPA option, a sub-affiliate layer, sub-ID or postback tracking, and an API for affiliates.
The payout timing is the one place where official pages differ: the landing page says rewards arrive within 30 days, while the FAQ says 30–45 days after a compliance review. Treat 45 days as the planning number.
CEX.IO affiliate program vs alternatives
If CEX.IO’s geography or flat rate doesn’t fit your audience, these programs solve different problems:
- Binance’s affiliate program climbs to 50% on spot and futures with hourly USDC payouts, but requires an audience threshold and re-evaluates you every quarter.
- Bybit’s affiliate program pays daily, negotiates rates per partner and adds a sub-affiliate override — a better fit for derivatives traffic.
- Coinmama’s affiliate program is another broker-style option, paying up to 30% of fees for life with monthly payouts.
- Paybis’s affiliate program pays a 20% lifetime revenue share plus 5% on webmasters you invite, once you reach $50.
For the full field, browse the crypto exchange affiliate programs category, or read how CPA, RevShare and hybrid deals compare before committing traffic.
Verdict on the CEX.IO affiliate program
CEX.IO offers a straightforward deal: 30% of your referrals’ fees, locked in USDC at the moment each trade completes, credited within 30–45 days and withdrawable to a card, bank, e-wallet or crypto. Entry needs nothing more than Identity-level verification, which makes it one of the most accessible exchange programs for smaller publishers.
The limits are equally clear. The rate is flat, the UK program is suspended, 30 countries are unsupported, and paid search or mass public posting needs written approval. If your audience is beginner buyers in supported countries and you promote through your own site or channel, CEX.IO fits well. If you need tiers, sub-affiliates or broad distribution rights, agree terms with affiliates@cex.io first — or pair it with a second program.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the CEX.IO affiliate program pay?
A flat 30% of the trading fees paid by the users you refer, on qualifying trades and purchases. There are no published volume tiers and no public CPA option. The program page says earnings are not limited in time or by the number of customers you bring, while the current terms let each Referral Offer set its own amount and duration, so check the offer shown in your account.
How long does CEX.IO take to pay referral rewards?
The program FAQ says rewards are credited 30–45 days after the referred user's qualifying transaction, following a compliance review. The landing page says 'within 30 days'. Each reward is valued in USDC at the moment the trade completes, so its value does not move with crypto prices during the hold.
How do I withdraw my CEX.IO affiliate earnings?
Rewards land in your CEX.IO balance. From there you can trade them into any supported cryptocurrency or withdraw to a Visa/Mastercard card, by bank transfer or to an e-wallet. Standard CEX.IO withdrawal limits and fees apply. A minimum payout amount is not published.
Is the CEX.IO referral program available in the UK?
No. CEX.IO lists its UK referral program as suspended until further notice, and the terms forbid targeting UK residents. CEX.IO also does not serve 30 countries and territories, including Canada, India, Japan, Singapore and Russia. Our crypto affiliate compliance guide covers how to handle mixed-geo audiences.
Can I run Google Ads or post my CEX.IO link publicly?
Not without permission. Bidding on 'CEX.IO', 'CEX', 'CEXIO' or misspellings, or using referral links in paid search, needs prior written approval. Clause 5.12 also bans posting referral links to large, non-targeted audiences such as public social posts, referral-code forums and mass messaging unless CEX.IO allows it. Ask affiliates@cex.io before you start.
What is the difference between the CEX.IO affiliate and referral programs?
For most people there is no difference: cex.io/affiliate-program opens the CEX.IO Referral Program, one program for regular users and publishers at 30% of fees. Commercial arrangements beyond it, such as paid media, agency or other revenue-share deals, are agreed separately in writing and may carry their own terms.
