MoonPay is not a typical consumer exchange. It is on-rampOn-ramp A service that lets people buy crypto with regular money — cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay. An off-ramp does the reverse. More infrastructure: the buy, sell and swap widget that pops up inside many wallets, dApps and NFT marketplaces when a user wants to pay with a card. Most of MoonPay’s partners are those integrators. Only recently did it open a public program for content creators.

That history explains why “the MoonPay affiliate program” means three different things depending on who you ask. This review separates them, says what is confirmed for each, and helps you pick the right one.

Three ways to partner with MoonPay

Route one: the MoonPay creator program on Impact

This is the public affiliate program, announced on MoonPay’s newsroom and run on Impact, a large affiliate networkAffiliate network A platform that connects many advertisers with many affiliates and handles tracking, reporting and payouts in one account. More. The advertiser listed on Impact is Moonpay USA LLC.

MoonPay describes the deal in broad strokes: you “earn commission by referring new users” and collect commissions when users transact on MoonPay through your link. The rate and the exact model are not published. You see them only inside Impact once you are approved. Some third-party directories quote per-KYC and per-transaction ranges, but MoonPay has not confirmed any of them, so we treat the creator rate as “Custom / Based on traffic volume” until you see your contract.

What is confirmed:

  • Applications are reviewed by MoonPay’s affiliate team, usually within one week.
  • Tracking runs in Impact. Actions appear the same day, and you build links with Impact’s “Create a Link” widget.
  • Commissions are paid the month after funds are attributed.
  • Banners and creatives sit in the Impact “Content” section.
  • An affiliate program manager is reachable at affiliates@moonpay.com.

MoonPay targets influencers and content creators, bloggers, crypto educators, fintech publishers, website owners and Web3 community leaders promoting through social, websites and newsletters.

The rejection list is unusually explicit: low or insufficient traffic, audiences outside MoonPay’s target GEOsGEO The country your traffic comes from. Offers, payouts and legal rules all depend on the GEO. More, voucher or coupon sites, low-quality or off-brand content, and compliance concerns. The target GEOs are not published, which is frustrating — the advertiser entity is US-based, but that does not tell you which countries count. Ask the affiliate manager before you build content for a specific market.

Watch out

MoonPay offers no voucher or coupon discounts, and coupon sites get rejected. Do not promise readers a "MoonPay promo code" — there is nothing to give them, and the claim would breach the ban on misleading content.

Route two: B2B integration with your own fee

If you run a wallet, dApp, game or marketplace, MoonPay’s main partner model is integration. You embed MoonPay’s widget or SDK, complete KYBKYB Know your business: company verification some programs require before paying affiliates who work through a legal entity. More (business verification), and a Partner Success Manager sets up an affiliate fee on your account.

That fee is not a share of MoonPay’s margin. It is a markup the end user pays on top of MoonPay’s own fees on every order, typically 0.5–1.25%, and adjustable through your Partner Success Manager. The trade-off is direct: a higher markup earns you more per order but makes the final price worse for your users.

Some quick arithmetic shows the scale. At a 1% fee, a $200 card purchase earns you $2, and $100,000 of monthly order volume earns $1,000. Because payouts only start at $1,000 in accumulated fees, a small wallet may wait several months for its first transfer. Larger apps clear the threshold every month and get a predictable revenue line that grows with their users rather than with a marketing budget.

Payouts follow fixed rules:

$1,000minimum accumulated fees
4th weekmonthly payout of prior months
BTC · USDC · USDTERC20 for the stablecoins

MoonPay calls USDC on ERC20 the popular option. Integrators also get developer widgets, SDKs and conversion badges.

Route three: the MoonPay INT CPA campaign on financeAds

The third route is a classic cpaCPA A fixed one-time payment you earn when a referred user completes a set action, such as passing KYC or making a first deposit. More campaign on financeAds called “MoonPay INT”. It pays a fixed €30 per first trade, validated on Net30 terms, with a 30-day cookie. It accepts traffic from financial comparators, email newsletters and social media, and it is limited to the UK, Italy, Spain and France.

This information comes from the financeAds listing, not from a MoonPay terms page, so confirm the live conditions inside financeAds before you commit budget. Our crypto affiliate networks page explains how network campaigns differ from direct programs.

Which MoonPay route suits you

  • You publish content globally (YouTube, blog, newsletter): apply to the Impact creator program. Expect to learn your rate only after approval.
  • You run a finance comparison site or newsletter in the UK, Italy, Spain or France: the €30 CPA on financeAds gives you a known number per first trade.
  • You own a wallet, dApp or marketplace: integrate and set your own fee. That is the only route where you control the rate.
  • You run a coupon or cashback site: none of the routes fit.

Publishers in the four financeAds markets may qualify for both the Impact program and the INT campaign. Ask both sides how they handle overlapping traffic before you run them in parallel, so you do not end up with disputed attributionAttribution The rule that decides which affiliate gets credit for a user — for example, the last link clicked or the referral code entered at sign-up. More.

Swap and on-ramp brands all face the same split, and MoonPay shows it most clearly.

With a link, you send a reader to MoonPay. You own the content, MoonPay owns the checkout, and you earn whatever the program pays per user or transaction. Setup takes minutes, but you depend on tracking — MoonPay does not publish a cookie windowCookie life How long after a click the program still credits you if the visitor signs up or buys. A 30-day cookie gives the user 30 days to convert. More for the Impact program — and you cannot change the price the user sees.

With a widget or SDK integration, the checkout happens inside your product. You set your own fee, every order is attributed by your integration rather than a cookie, and the revenue grows with your user base. The cost is real development work, KYB, and responsibility for the user experience.

If you are deciding between the two, our CPA vs RevShare vs Hybrid guide helps you model per-user payouts, and our tracking and postback guide covers attribution for link traffic.

How to apply to the MoonPay affiliate program

  1. Apply on Impact. Find the Moonpay USA LLC advertiser page on Impact and submit your application with your main traffic sources and audience countries.
  2. Wait for review. MoonPay usually decides within a week. If you are rejected, compare your profile against the listed reasons.
  3. Build links and pick creatives. Use Impact's "Create a Link" widget and the Content section.
  4. Promote and monitor. Actions show up the same day; payouts arrive the month after attribution.
  5. Integrators: instead of Impact, contact MoonPay, integrate the widget or SDK, pass KYB and agree your fee and payout address with your Partner Success Manager.

Conversion tips for MoonPay content

MoonPay is a checkout, not a trading venue, so the content that converts answers “how do I pay for crypto” questions. Think “how to buy ETH with a card straight into a self-custody wallet”, “how to fund a new wallet with a card”, or “how to cash out crypto to a bank card”. Show the exact flow, including identity verification, because that step is where first-time buyers drop off.

Lean on familiarity. Many readers have already seen the MoonPay widget inside a wallet or dApp. Pointing that out (“the same checkout you see inside many wallets”) lowers anxiety more than any banner.

Be precise about fees. MoonPay’s final price includes its own fees and any partner markup, and it differs by payment method and country. Tell readers to check the quote before confirming. Never invent a discount — there is none.

Compliance notes

On-ramps sit close to payment regulation, and MoonPay lists compliance concerns among its rejection reasons. Keep claims factual, do not imply guaranteed returns, and avoid promising availability in countries MoonPay does not serve. Our crypto affiliate compliance guide covers disclosures and geo checks.

MoonPay alternatives

  • Paybis publishes its rate: 20% of its fee for the lifetime of each referral, plus 5% on sub-affiliates.
  • Changelly advertises up to 50% of its fee on crypto purchases and offers a Fiat API with partner-set fees.
  • ChangeNOW pays 0.4% of crypto-to-crypto swap volume with instant sign-up.

Verdict

MoonPay is worth considering for two kinds of partners: integrators, who get a transparent model where they set their own 0.5–1.25% fee, and finance publishers in the UK, Italy, Spain and France, who can take a known €30 CPA through financeAds. For creators elsewhere, the Impact program is real and well run on the tracking side, but you have to apply before you learn what it pays, and the target GEOs are not published. Apply, read the contract, and compare it with Paybis’s published lifetime share before you commit your best placements.
