- Commission
- Commission is a rebate of trading fees paid by invitees on Spot, Futures, Options and CeDeFi trading. Default rate is 30%; affiliates are assessed monthly on invitees' monthly trading volume (CeDeFi excluded) and number of new/total traded invitees, and upgraded the following month, up to 50%. Falling short of a level for three consecutive months triggers a downgrade. New affiliates get a 5-month level-protection period. Affiliates can share part of the rate with invitees (invitee rebate 0-20%) and with sub-affiliates. Exact tier thresholds are not published. Separate OKX Card and DEX commission programs exist.

What the OKX affiliate program pays, in short
OKX runs a pure revenue share program. You earn a cut of the trading fees your invitees pay on Spot, Futures, Options and CeDeFi, settled in USDT, for as long as they keep trading on OKX. There is no CPACPA A fixed one-time payment you earn when a referred user completes a set action, such as passing KYC or making a first deposit. More option on the public terms and no flat bounty per signup.
Three things set the OKX affiliate program apart from most exchange deals. First, there is an entry ticket: 10 valid new users before you are an affiliate at all. Second, your rate is reassessed every month, but new affiliates get a protection window. Third, commissions arrive within hours, not days. The rest of this review unpacks each of those, plus the rules that quietly cut commission to zero on some trades.
How OKX affiliate levels and monthly assessments work
Everyone who clears the entry gate starts at 30%. From there, OKX looks at your numbers once a month and decides your level for the following month. Two inputs count:
- your invitees’ monthly trading volumeTrading volume The total value of trades your referrals make. A $1,000 buy followed by a $1,000 sell adds up to $2,000 of volume. More (CeDeFi volume is excluded from this test);
- the number of new invitees and total invitees who traded.
Hit a higher level’s targets and you move up the next month, with 50% as the ceiling. Fall short of your current level for three consecutive months and you are downgraded. One bad month does not cost you anything, which matters if your audience trades in bursts around market events.
What OKX does not do is publish the volume thresholds behind each level. You will see your own progress in the Affiliate Portal, but you cannot plan a “reach X volume, earn Y%” target from the public rules. Treat 30% as your planning number and anything above it as upside.
Level protection means OKX will not demote a brand-new affiliate while they are still building an audience. New affiliates get a 5-month protection period on their level, so a slow start does not drop you below the rate you began with.
Sharing your rate: invitee rebates and sub-affiliates
Your commission is a pool you can split. You can hand part of it back to invitees as a trading-fee rebateRebate A share of trading fees paid back to someone — to you as the referrer, or passed on to the user as a discount. Many exchanges call commission a rebate. More of 0% to 20%, which works as a hook on comparison pages and in Telegram groups (“sign up with my code, get X% of your fees back”). You can also recruit sub-affiliatesSub-affiliate An affiliate you recruit into a program. You earn an extra commission on what they bring in, on top of your own direct referrals. More and set their rates; a sub-affiliate can never earn more than the senior affiliate above them, and OKX notes the relationship is not permanent.
Every point you give away comes out of your own share. If you start at 30% and offer invitees a 10% rebate, you keep 20% of their fees. The sub-affiliate programs guide walks through how to price these splits without eating your margin.
The 10-referral gate: how to join the OKX affiliate program
The OKX application form is only half the process. Under the current rules, you become an affiliate after you refer 10 valid new users using your default referral link. Until then, you are a regular referrer.
- Check your audience's location. OKX restricts Canada, India, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, certain US jurisdictions and several sanctioned regions. If most of your readers are there, stop here.
- Create and verify an OKX account. Identity verification ([[kyc]]) is required to receive commissions, for individuals and institutions alike.
- Apply on the affiliate page. On okx.com/affiliates, click "Apply now" and fill in your details, promotional channels, prior affiliate experience and language.
- Refer 10 valid new users. Share your default referral link. Once 10 valid users join, your link becomes an affiliate link with the 30% default rate.
- Configure your links. Under More > Affiliates, create custom codes, set invitee rebates and sub-affiliate rates.
- Track results. Use the Affiliate Portal's Invitees and Commission pages, downloadable reports (up to 30 per month) or the Affiliate REST API.
OKX does not state how long the review takes. In practice, the bottleneck is step four. If you already have a newsletter, a Discord or a YouTube channel in a supported market, 10 sign-ups is a weekend’s work. If you are launching a brand-new site, plan to get those first users through a community post or a short video rather than waiting for search traffic.
Getting paid: USDT within hours
This is where OKX genuinely differs from the pack. Commissions are normally distributed within 1–2 hours after the trade, in USDT. Compare that with daily (T+1) settlement at many exchanges or monthly cycles on affiliate networksAffiliate network A platform that connects many advertisers with many affiliates and handles tracking, reporting and payouts in one account. More, and the cash-flow difference is real if you reinvest in paid content or community incentives.
A few practical notes:
- No published minimum payout. OKX’s rules do not state a threshold, so don’t plan around one either way.
- USDT only for the main program. DEX commissions run separately and can be paid on-chain to a linked external wallet.
- KYC is mandatory for the affiliate, any co-inviter and every sub-affiliate before commissions are received.

Trades that earn you nothing
Every exchange has exclusions, and OKX’s are worth reading before you build a forecast. You earn no commission when an invitee:
| Situation | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Is VIP7 or above | Your biggest whales pay you nothing |
| Is VIP5 or VIP6 | Commission is capped at 100,000 per month |
| Uses rebate cards, futures credits or contract vouchers | Promo-funded trades are excluded |
| Has a special negotiated fee rate | Institutional-style deals don’t count |
| Trades via managed sub-accounts | Fund-manager structures are excluded |
| Is a Chinese trader and you are a non-Chinese affiliate | Regional restriction on commissions |
There is also a re-engagement rule that cuts both ways. A user who has had no deposits, trades or withdrawals for 180 days is considered lapsed. If they log in through a different affiliate’s link, they are re-bound to that affiliate. That means you can win back dormant OKX users with your own link, but your own inactive invitees can be reassigned to someone else. A short “come back” email to old sign-ups before the 180-day mark is a cheap way to protect them.
Traffic rules and compliance pitfalls
OKX is strict about two things: brand search and geography.
[[brand-bidding|Brand bidding]] is banned: no ads on "OKX", "OKX Exchange" or similar on Google, Bing, Yandex, Yahoo or Naver. On top of that, users who sign up through any paid-ad channel cannot be bound to an affiliate, and pre-filled invite codes cannot be edited at signup. If you plan to run [[ppc|PPC]] campaigns, OKX is a poor fit.
The jurisdiction rule is broader than most. Affiliates may not market, post links or recruit sub-affiliates in OKX’s Prohibited Jurisdictions, or on any online medium accessible there. Read literally, a public post visible in a restricted country is a risk, so geo-target paid placements and keep OKX content off channels whose audience is mostly in restricted regions. Product-level limits also apply: derivatives and CeFi products are restricted in Australia and the UK, and derivatives and P2P in Brazil and South Korea. A futures tutorial aimed at UK readers is therefore off-limits even though OKX itself is not banned there.
Other banned tactics: lookalike websites, URLs or social accounts; impersonating OKX in emails or texts; and self-inviting through multiple accounts. Our crypto traffic sources guide covers which channels hold up under rules like these.
Who the OKX affiliate program suits, and who should skip it
Good fit:
- Creators and community owners in supported markets whose audience trades futuresFutures Contracts that let traders bet on a coin's price, often with leverage, without owning the coin. They create high volume and high risk. More or options regularly. Derivatives traders generate fees, and fees are your income.
- Affiliates who want daily cash flow in USDT rather than waiting on a network payment cycle.
- Operators who can recruit and manage sub-affiliates, thanks to the multi-level structure and REST API.
Poor fit:
- PPC-first affiliates, given the brand-keyword ban and the paid-channel binding rule.
- Sites whose traffic is mostly from the US, Canada, India or Japan.
- Anyone who needs a fixed payout per signup. There is no CPA, so beginner “how to buy Bitcoin” traffic that never trades will earn little.
Conversion tips specific to OKX
Lead with the invitee rebate. A clear “X% of your trading fees back” line converts better than generic exchange praise, and OKX lets you set it from 0% to 20%. Pair it with content that suits active traders: futures fee comparisons, options explainers, or CeDeFi product walkthroughs. Since level upgrades depend partly on the number of new trading invitees, a steady flow of small traders can count as much as one large one, especially once you account for the VIP7+ exclusion.
Finally, use the Affiliate Portal’s per-trade breakdown to see which invitees are excluded (special fee rates, vouchers) before you assume a drop in income means lost users.
OKX affiliate vs referral program
The two share the same starting point: your default referral link. As a plain referrer you can invite friends and they may receive a new-user bonus. Once you apply and bring in 10 valid users, that link becomes an affiliate link and you unlock the 30% default rate, the level system up to 50%, configurable invitee rebates, sub-affiliates and a 1-to-1 BD manager. Alternatives to compare
- Bybit’s tiered revenue share is the closest match for derivatives-heavy audiences; our Binance vs Bybit affiliate comparison sets it against the biggest exchange program.
- Bitget also tops out at 50%, but starts new affiliates at 0% until an activation volume target is met.
- MEXC suits altcoin and futures audiences that look for wide token listings.
- If your readers are in the US, Kraken’s negotiated affiliate deals are an option where OKX is not.

Verdict
The OKX affiliate program is one of the better-paying exchange deals for affiliates who already have a trading audience in supported markets: 30% from day one of affiliate status, a realistic path to 50%, protection while you ramp up, and USDT credited within a couple of hours. The 10-referral entry gate and unpublished level thresholds are mild hurdles. The real limits are elsewhere: no commission on VIP7+ whales, strict geo rules that reach any channel accessible in restricted countries, and a hard line against brand-keyword ads. If your traffic is organic, international and trader-heavy, OKX deserves a slot in your lineup.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the OKX affiliate program pay?
New affiliates start at 30% of the trading fees their invitees pay on spot, futures, options and CeDeFi. OKX reviews your level every month based on invitee trading volume and the number of new and total trading invitees, and can raise you up to 50%. The exact volume thresholds for each level are not published.
Do I need referrals before I can join the OKX affiliate program?
Yes. Under the current rules you submit an application first, then refer 10 valid new users with your default referral link. Only after that does your link turn into an affiliate link with the 30% default rate, sub-affiliate tools and a BD manager.
How often does OKX pay affiliate commissions?
Commissions are normally distributed in USDT within 1–2 hours after your invitee's trade. OKX does not publish a minimum payout. Identity verification is required before you can receive commissions.
What is the difference between the OKX referral and affiliate programs?
Any OKX user can share a referral link. The affiliate program is the upgraded version: once you apply and refer 10 valid users, you get a 30% default rate (up to 50%), the option to give invitees a 0–20% fee rebate, sub-affiliates and a dedicated manager. Our crypto referral programs overview compares both models across exchanges.
Can I run Google Ads on the OKX brand name?
No. Advertising OKX brand keywords such as 'OKX' or 'OKX Exchange' on Google, Bing, Yandex, Yahoo or Naver is prohibited. Users who register through paid-ad channels also cannot be bound to an affiliate at all.
Can I promote OKX to US or Canadian audiences?
No. Canada and certain US jurisdictions, including all US territories, are on OKX's restricted list, and US residents are served only by the separate OKX US entity. You also cannot post links on any online medium accessible in those Prohibited Jurisdictions. See our compliance guide for handling mixed-geo audiences.
